Women Development Cell

About the Women Development Cell

The Women’s Cell at Nehru Institute of Information Technology and Management College was established to nurture the growth and empowerment of female students, faculty, and staff members. Our mission is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where women can thrive academically, professionally, and personally for their wellbeing.

Its objectives include empowering women to make informed decisions in education, employment, and health, as well as raising awareness about women’s issues and advocating against gender-based violence and social injustices. Additionally, the cell aims to maintain hygiene standards and ensure a healthy environment on campus while focusing on promoting awareness of human rights, especially those of women and children.

The Cell’s primary function is to safeguard the rights of female students, faculty, and staff members. It addresses complaints regarding women’s grievances through a structured procedure: students report grievances to their class mentor, who then discusses them with the Head of the Department (HoD) and Women’s Cell members. If the issue remains unresolved, it is escalated to the Principal and legal advisor for further action. The complainant is given the opportunity to present their case, after which the committee deliberates and reaches a decision.

Objectives

The main objectives of this cell are

  • To educate students about gender equality issues, fostering, understanding and prompting action to address disparities.
  • To promote female students about various academic and career paths available to them, empowering informed decision-making for their future endeavours.
  • To cultivate self-assurance and resilience among female students, equipping them with the confidence to pursue their aspirations.
  • To encourage inclusivity and mutual respect among all genders, fostering an environment of understanding and support within the college community.
